The Great Vallejo Race

The first mention of a race came in 1924, when PICYA organized a cruise from Berkeley to Vallejo on a Saturday to be followed by a race back on Sunday. This is probably the official origin of the Great Vallejo Race, now reputed to be one of the largest inland regattas in the United States, usually drawing 200+ boats annually. Now under the aegis of the Yacht Racing Association (YRA) and hosted by the Vallejo Yacht Club, the two-day race marks the official opening of the San Francisco Bay racing season.

Get ready for an epic Post-Race celebration at the Vallejo Yacht Club!

BERTHING
  • All participants are encouraged to overnight at the Vallejo Yacht Club and join in the after-race party hosted by Vallejo Yacht Club.
  • Racers will be accommodated in the Vallejo Yacht Club harbor for easy access to the after race party. 
  • A welcome boat will meet racers as they enter the Yacht Club harbor and direct racers where to raft up.
  • Deep draft boats should contact the Vallejo Yacht Club to determine best options for entering the harbor and rafting up at the dock.

AFTER RACE PARTY

  • Racers will be greeted at the club by a live band upon arrival.
  • Specialty cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks will be available starting at 3pm.
  • Food choices this year include Tony’s Famous Ribs and/or Chicken plate, BBQ Oysters, Hamburgers and Veggie Burgers. Tony’s Ribs and/or Chicken Plates start at $22/ticket for a Chicken only plate. Ribs only plates are $24/ticket and Ribs & Chicken Plates are $26/ticket.
  • Tickets for Tony’s Ribs & Chicken Plates must be pre-ordered when you register for the race.
  • Mare Island Brewery will have their beer truck on site and the Vallejo Yacht Club bar will be open.  
  • Pre-sale tickets are not required for drink tickets, BBQ Oysters or Hamburgers/Veggie Burgers..
  • Live music and dancing will be going on in the clubhouse all evening.
